The Donegal leg of Ireland’s ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ is to be renamed the ‘Wile Atlantic Way’, in deference to Donegal’s wile unique heritage. The announcement was made today at some gathering in some hotel somewhere, with a photo taken for the local paper.

Willie Walsh from the Donegal Tourism Federation (in association with Údarás na Quango) explains: “It’s wile, not wild. It’s a Wile Atlantic Way altogether”

Walsh also believes that many other parts of Donegal should be updated to reflect the true nature of the county, with other names in line for an update including:

•Letterkenny to be renamed Letterkenn-aye
•Buncrana will become known as “Wuncrana”
•Finn Harps F.C will be re-branded as The Ballybofey Football Club
•The town of Bundoran will see its name changed to “Shitehole”
