Gweedore is celebrating tonight at news that its first Lady, Máire Rua Gallagher, has been formally selected to partner Daniel O’Donnell on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The news comes after an earlier announcement that Daniel himself was to join the next series of the popular Saturday night show.

We understand that Máire Rua, who won the coveted “Gweedore Person of the Year” title in 2009, didn’t have to audition for the role after producers of the BBC series learned of her legendary moving and shaking down through the years at Daniel’s concerts.

“Jeesh I’m going to show them how it’s done hiy,” vowed eighty-six year old Gallagher, reacting to the news that she is to join the ranks of the other professional dancers.

When asked if she was looking forward more to the Latin American or the Classic Ballroom routines, Máire told us that “Ara, sure beidh me weavláil agus a’waddláil liom agus beidh sé ghrate.”
