It has been announced that The Four Lanterns fast food chain is to be made into a Hollywood movie. It is reported that Harvey Weinstein has secured the rights and has lined up none other than Ireland’s own Jim Sheridan to helm the project. It is not yet known who will play the eponymous hero of the piece, but among those linked to the lead role are Jack Black, Zach Galifianakis, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The story will revolve around a down-at-heel fast food worker in Donegal who is visited by a mysterious intergalactic figure who bestows on him a magic yellow and red ring with the instruction that he must use it to maintain culinary justice throughout the northwest on behalf of an intergalactic police force known as the ‘Four Lantern Corps’.
The ring gives the user the power to cook chips, burgers, and chicken at high speed, thus sating the aggressive hunger (and temper) of angry, intoxicated ‘Nordies’ at the end of a night out. However, the ring’s magical powers only work in Donegal and in certain parts of Sligo. Shooting is scheduled to begin in October.
