Donegal man, Paul McGonigle, was left outraged yesterday after receiving his neighbour’s mail for the second time in 16 years.
McGonigle, an unemployed plasterer from Kilmacrennan, spoke of his feelings of betrayal towards local postman and brother, John McGonigle.
“After Daddy died and split up the farm, you’d think John would know my house is on the left and his is on the right,” he told our reporter.
McGonigle, in a fit of anger, also added “I intend to take this matter to the highest powers.”
McGonigle now aims to raise awareness of ill-delivered mail by walking the 249.13 km distance from Kilmacrennan to the G.P.O. in Dublin.
When asked, close friends and neighbours said “I don’t know why he’s going all the way to Dublin, Sheila in the post office sorts all the letters. I suppose he just likes walking.”
An Post representatives haven’t been asked to comment.
